How to Sell AIT Products & Services

AIT's services are purposely straight forward. The core our business, the Value Added Reseller or VAR, is diverse. Most of our VAR's sell hosting along with other services. One west coast reseller, for example, coupled hosting services through AIT with web design of local businesses, along with search engine submissions, dial up access, domain registration, and ecommerce solutions. AIT offers all of the preceding services, with the exception of web design, and we offer them at a price that fits into the reseller model. The rates can be marked up a little (so reseller's can profit) and still be reasonable.

Many VAR's will bundle the cost of name registration and hosting into a single price; and since hosting entails a monthly fee, that's where your profit lies anyway. Since hosting needs vary almost as much as Internet sites themselves, spend some time with your customer determining the demands of his business, both immediate and in the future. Knowing what the customer wants puts you in a position to offer the right package or to decide if you are the right host for the job.

Now that you know what the customer needs, there are several AIT services at your disposal including merchant accounts for ecommerce, marketing help through Advinte, and security options. In short, AIT has provided the tools to allow you to provide as many service options as you're comfortable handling. And, we have priced these tools at rates that allow room for you to mark them up for resale while not gouging the customer.

Multiple domain hosting - Just as you buy hosting service from AIT, so can you sell it to customers of your own. What you charge them is up to you, though we recommend a rate of $20 to $40 per month. Each virtual host customer receives a domain name, a control panel to manage their own domain, and full ecommerce capability.

Support queue - Consider this a customer relationship management tool in that it helps you manage online sales and support requests. And, if it works for you, it can also benefit your virtual hosts. While AIT provides you this service for free, you are welcome to charge your customers a reasonable fee for it.

WAP enabled - All of AIT's hosting plans are geared to accommodate Wireless Application Protocol, allowing your site to be accessed through PDA's, mobile phones, or pagers. WAP-enabled devices are common in Europe and Asia, and are expected to make inroads into the US over the next few years. This is yet another value-add you can provide to your virtual hosts.

Free unlimited POP accounts - These are true email boxes accessible from any browser. They are free to you, but you can resell them to customers either individually or in groups.
